A poet wandering on a heath,

As lost as Lear, a Caliban

On thought's island, bound as Macbeth

To see through, to serve another's plan—

What each of these suffered, he suffers,

And who to blame if not the author?

He stubs his toe, picks up the stone,

And intaglio'd there, finds

A fish's spine, a scrap of fin,

A braille timepiece for the blind.

Whose hand scribed this watchface, wound

The atoms tight, set the round
